Case Study — NZ Inland Revenue Selects Prismac for the Third Time
Prismac and New Zealand Inland Revenue have a strong ongoing relationship for over 20 years.
Prismac implemented the region’s first image workflow system to process all remittance payments for Inland Revenue. After six years production, Inland Revenue needed the proprietary system replaced with open systems with increased utility and operational longevity.
Inland Revenue conducted an extensive competitive evaluation and selected Prismac for its new remittance processing system.
Prismac proposed its Image Remittance Processing System (IRPS) integrated with Unisys’s new NDP500 transports at Inland Revenue's three processing centres. In addition Prismac’s Import Consolidation & Distribution System (ICDS) transmits formatted files to the Inland Revenue mainframe for account update, and electronic cheque files to Inland Revenue's bank to ensure prompt clearance and settlement, avoiding paper clearance delays.
Prismac managed the complex project which was completed on time and on budget. The Prismac system demonstrated its reliability and scalability by processing billions of dollars per year without failure, with over 100,000 transactions on a peak day.
Inland Revenue’s decision affirmed its confidence in Prismac to provide Inland Revenue with its mission‑critical in-house payments system and ongoing support.
Allan Foubister, National Manager (Processing) at Inland Revenue made the following statement on awarding the Image Processing Upgrade contract to Prismac:
“The new technology platform being supplied by Prismac Systems will provide Inland Revenue with the capacity to process payments for at least the next seven years. The award of this project reaffirms our confidence in Prismac and Unisys gained through the strong association developed since the first Prismac / Unisys solution was installed.”
